Course
Terraform
Describe your infrastructure in a reviewable file instead of a console: resources, state, modules, environments, and plan review before applying.
Intermediate 7 lessons
Lessons
- 1 Introduction You'll be able to explain what declarative infrastructure actually delivers, what it costs, and how it differs from an installation script.
- 2 Your First Resource You will learn to install Terraform, initialize a project, declare a provider and a resource, then read a plan before applying it.
- 3 Terraform State You'll learn what the state file is for, how to put it in a locked remote backend, and why you should never edit it by hand.
- 4 Variables and outputs You'll learn to declare typed and validated variables, feed them cleanly, expose consumable outputs, and handle sensitive data.
- 5 Modules You'll be able to write a clean module, call it, pin its source to a version, and recognize the cases where a module costs more than it delivers.
- 6 Environments You'll be able to compare separate directories, workspaces, and parameterized modules, know their pitfalls, and choose the structure to prefer by default.
- 7 Plan and review You'll learn to decode the symbols in a plan, spot a destructive replacement, freeze a plan with -out, and have plans reviewed by a continuous integration pipeline.
