Guide: Creating a GPO and Linking It to an Organizational Unit (OU)
This guide explains how to create a Group Policy Object (GPO), link it to an organizational unit (OU) in an Active Directory domain, and use a Starter GPO. By following these steps, you will be able to manage your GPOs effectively and configure specific settings for organizational units.
Prerequisites
Make sure you have the permissions required to create and link GPOs in your Active Directory environment, and that you are running PowerShell as an administrator.
1. Create a new GPO with a comment: New-GPO -Name TestGPO -Comment "Ceci est une GPO de test"
New-GPO -Name TestGPO -Comment "Ceci est une GPO de test"
This command creates a new Group Policy Object named TestGPO and adds a comment ("Ceci est une GPO de test", meaning "This is a test GPO"). Comments are useful for documenting the purpose of the GPO, which makes configuration management easier.
2. Verify that the GPO was created: Get-GPO -Name TestGPO
Get-GPO -Name TestGPO
After creating the GPO, use this command to confirm that it exists and to display its details, such as its name, unique ID (GUID), and creation date. This ensures that the GPO was created correctly.
