Chapter 01 — Introduction to Dart
Level: beginner Estimated time: 1 hr 30 min Prerequisites: none What you will be able to do by the end: write, read, and run a minimal Dart program, and understand the role of Dart in relation to Flutter.
Overview of Part 1A
Before building interfaces with Flutter, it is essential to understand the language Flutter uses: Dart.
The goal of this first part is to progressively build the foundations you need to be able to:
- read Dart code;
- write Dart programs;
- work with variables;
- use conditions;
- create loops;
- work with lists and collections;
- create functions;
- understand object-oriented programming;
- create classes and objects;
- use inheritance;
- understand null safety;
- handle exceptions;
- understand asynchronous programming;
- use
Future; - use
asyncandawait; - organize a Dart project;
- be comfortable enough with Dart to start Flutter.
The progression will be deliberately very gradual.
